Computer security also known as Cyber Security or IT Security.

Computer security is the protection of information system from theft or damage to the hardware and the software as well as disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.

It control physical access to the hardware as well as protecting against harm that may come through network access, data and code injection and due to malpractice by users, whether intentionally or accidentally.

Its used :-

• To prevent theft of hardware.

• To prevent theft of information.

• To prevent disruption of service.

Computer security is concerned with four main areas:-

1.Confidentiality is a set of rules that limits access to information means only authorized users can access the information.

2.Integrity is the assurance that the information is trustworthy and accurate without any modification means that the data must receive by the receiver exactly as it was sent. There must be no changes in the content of the message during transmission either maliciously or accidentally.

3.Availability means data should be always available to users when needed. We can improve the availability by Replication.

4.Authentication means are you really communicating with whom you think you are communicating with. There is no imposter whose are talking with you.
